How to manage and report a water leak on site
When the weather becomes colder, the risk of water leaks on site becomes greater due to frost causing pipes and taps to split. Plot holders can help the Society minimise water damage/loss by making themselves aware of how to isolate taps, reduce water escape and report these incidents.
If you spot a leak from a tap/pipe feeding the tap on the site, please try to isolate the tap first before reporting it via the website contact us form. This will help conserve our (now) metered water supply and prevent further water damage. To isolate the tap, look at the tap and look down the supply pipe to towards the ground and you should see an isolation valve like this shown here below:

With a flat head screwdriver (-), gently turn the valve to a horizontal position and the water should stop. If there is no valve present, try to wrap something around the tap to reduce the amount of water that is escaping. Please report the leak via the web contact form and a member of the committee will attend and isolate the tap using one of the pipe squeezers we have stored for this type of situation.
If the leak is in the ground, please report it via the web contact us form and a member of the committee will isolate the site supply if necessary. Please do not try to isolate the site supply yourself.
