In this session, we'll cover the basics of summer pruning for fruit trees. We'll look at the key differences between pruning stone fruits and other tree types such as apples, pears, quinces, and medlars, if you have them. We'll also discuss some of the common pests and diseases to keep an eye on at this time of year. Your guide for the day is Dan Hasler, co-founder of the Manchester Fruit Tree Coop. Dan has over 15 years of experience working with orchard fruit, starting with his time running The Moss Cider Project. He later worked as a project manager for The Orchard Project, and since leaving The Kindling Trust in 2022, he and Sølvi, the other half of the coop, have been working towards becoming commercial growers of heritage fruit trees. Please note this (plot holder only) learning event is strictly limited to 12 places so please only register 1 per person per plot. Any place in the session is offered on a first come first served basis and registration is required. Missed out this time? If you do not manage to get a ticket for this first session or you cannot now make the session, please send us a message using the contact form and we will add you to the waiting list for a potential second event in the afternoon or give your place to another plot holder on the waiting list.
